In 2017, Silver Spur Operating Co. was honored with the Zoetis AQHA Best Remuda Award, recognizing their significant contributions to the heritage of the American Quarter Horse. The ranch, encompassing operations in Wyoming, New Mexico, Nebraska, and Colorado, is one of the largest cattle operations in the U.S. and has a rich history, including managing the Bell Ranch, an AQHA Legacy Breeder. Silver Spur raises quality Quarter Horses for ranch work, focusing on horses that combine athletic ability, cow sense, and durability. The ranch has produced several successful horses, including world champion SS Hey One Eye, and recently added new herd sires, Metallic Masterpiece and Light My Dynamite. Silver Spur is also involved in various community outreach efforts, including youth programs and agricultural internships. The Zoetis AQHA Best Remuda Award, recognizing ranches that produce high-quality horses, was presented to Silver Spur at the 2017 Working Ranch Cowboy’s Association World Championship Ranch Rodeo and will be celebrated at other events in 2018.

Have questions on our horse breeding?
Silver Spur Ranches believe in the use of the Remuda in our day to day operations. We feel it is important to know the quality, ability, stamina and work ethic of the mares before selecting them for our broodmare band. In addition to breeding for lineage, we breed for disposition, athletic ability, trainability, cow sense, confirmation and lastly pedigree. Once the mares have proven themselves on the ranch and/or in the show pen, they continue their jobs on the broodmare band, raising the next generation of Silver Spur ranch and performance horses.
